Eleven rooms of wool carpet in a Victorian conversion, none of it cleaned since the building was converted. The pile had flattened in the hallway and the stairs had a visible traffic lane.

Wool needs a lower moisture and a neutral pH, so this was a slower job than synthetic fibre would have been — but it is also the fibre that responds best when it is done correctly.

Stairs and edges

Stair nosings were treated by hand before the main extraction. They hold more soil than any other part of a carpet and are the first thing anyone notices.

Drying

Air movers on each landing brought drying time down to under four hours, so the family were back in the rooms the same evening.
